One Piece Chapter 932: The Shogun and the Courtesan

This week’s chapter was very character driven. A shout out to the strong female characters in One Piece. The two POV characters are Robin and Komurasaki. We are here for it. This chapter is unique among the ones I have reviewed recently because it is very focused around a singular event.

Part 1 - Robin

Robin is caught and tells the Omiwabanshu that she is the Witching Hour Bot and they immediately debunk and attack her. But our girl Robin is smart and she was using a clone. She later joins Orochi at the festivities and does what she can to draw out information from him.

Part 2 - Kyoshiro

Throughout the various interactions, the chapter continuously shifts its focus to characters talking about Komurasaki. The people seem to not trust her because of her shady business on the side. Kyoshiro is most interesting. His character is shrouded in mystery and suspicion. Is he good or is he bad? The way he talks is as if he’s in the grey. As the people around him are kind of degrading Komurasaki, he tells them not to talk about a prostitute like she’s a dog. Interesting man.

Part 3 – Komurasaki and Orochi

Going back to the beginning of the chapter, we find out the masked woman playing the instrument through the different transitions of Acts in Wano was actually Komurasaki. People are wondering why she always wears a mask while playing. I think it’s because she is crying while she plays. There will be a big tie in to this by the end of the arc. Orochi ends up going off on a tangent about spirits and Lady Toki’s prophecy of his downfall. In the midst of it, O-Toko has her laughing spasm. Orochi does not like people laughing at him. He is about to kill her until Komurasaki comes in-between them. She slaps Oden in front of everyone and all hell breaks loose. People tell her to bow down and apologize but like the badass she is, she refuses and says I bow to no one. Orochi transforms into his 8 headed Dragon form (no confirmation if it’s actually the Yamato no Orochi fruit). The chapter ends with Kyoshiro drawing his sword. And that moment alone, oh boy….

Prediction – Kyoshiro

Okay, the way the chapter ends with Kyoshiro is very ominous to me. I’ve said multiple times before that I noticed he does not respect the Shogun. And in this chapter it seems like he does respect Komurasaki. So, I’m trying to say that I think he will strike the Shogun here, not Komurasaki. I feel like he has been planning on overthrowing the Shogun for some time. It seems as if he also has pulls with the Beast Pirates since he is able to send the Flying Six to do his bidding. Keep an eye on him.

Conclusion

Really good character driven chapter that gave us more depth to both Komurasaki and Kyoshiro. Excited to see where this is all going. Seems like we are approaching the climax to Act II.
